Walk & Talk Therapy

Nature + Movement + Therapy

Walk & Talk Therapy is an approach that is growing in popularity globally. The combination of being in nature plus movement and therapy, is an experiential approach that I personally have seen to be effective for many of my clients. It helps to release emotions, calm, energise and inspire people.

I started this approach in Hong Kong working with teenage clients who appeared stuck in session, finding it difficult to open up in a traditional seated face-to-face office environment. I then opened up to clients of all ages who generally found it more comfortable to walk and talk. During the pandemic and extended lockdowns in Melbourne, this was also an effective alternative to those clients wanting in-person connection rather than online.

The key benefits include:

Facilitates positive habit change in getting active for mental and physical reasons.

Supports clients to get “unstuck” when confronting difficult issues.

Walking in nature enhances creativity and deeper ways of thinking.

Opens dialogue that can sometimes be challenging in a traditional seated face-to-face therapy session.

Walk & Talk sessions are conducted in the Toorak, South Yarra, Armadale, Caulfield areas of Melbourne, Australia.

This approach is not suitable to all clients and I prefer to conduct at least one session in-person or via Zoom to determine the suitability of this approach for my client before commitment to a Walk & Talk session
